THE LEAN METHOD
DMR adopt the Lean method, but what exactly does it mean?
The Lean method is a management philosophy and an approach to production that
aims to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase value for the
customer.
Originally developed by Toyota as part of the Toyota
Production System (TPS), the first step in the Lean method is to understand
what the customer considers valuable. This allows us to focus on what is truly
important to the customer and eliminate everything that does not add
value.
This implies mapping all the activities involved in the
production process, from the initial concept to the delivery of the final
product. The goal is to identify and remove waste.
What are the benefits of choosing the Lean method? The are
lots of benefits, with the main one being the improvement of quality, as the
processes become more efficient. Additionally, it is possible to support
greater flexibility through rapid adaptation to changes in demand. Beyond these
benefits, the active involvement and participation of employees are crucial.
This participation can only be achieved by adopting Lean Thinking, that is,
embracing the Lean mindset, knowing it, in order to effectively apply its
principles.
Our key objectives are a focus on error prevention and
continuous improvement (Kaizen), attention to customer needs, as well as
meticulous care for safety, functionality, and environmental protection.
